ES-TRELLA

I was lucky enough to receive an email from the designer(s) at Es Trella, asking me to write about the Winter 09 collection. Es Trella is based in Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, QLD and Perth) and was created by Sarah King and Tristan Blair. I'm so happy! I've been absolutely glued to the lookbook for days now, and the reason it has taken me so long to finally post about the line is that it has taken me what feels like a millennium to pick my favorite photos!I've been seeing a lot of beautiful, structured pieces walk up and down the runway this year, and every collection had elements of twisted menswear, geometric draping, layers layers layers, and edgy femininity. The Winter 09 Collection from Es Trella is no exception - my obsession with mesh, lace, burn-out patterns, and utilitarian lines has been completely swamped, total sensory overload. The majority of the pieces are bold and cutting edge, mixing sweet feminine designs with futuristic details and occasional splashes of jewel toned silk. Es Trella also provides a more parochial design within their men's section - I am floored by the collection of coats...

Finally, after sifting through the lookbook and separating the pieces into categories - "Feature in the Blog", and "BUY IMMEDIATELY" .... needless to say, the lines got a little blurry and I ended up putting everything on my wish list. I can't imagine my closet now without Es Trella's dangerous hemlines and sharp construction - It is very difficult to think about.

I posted my favorite Women's and Men's pieces here, and I tried not to get TOO carried away with my commentary...

I love the way Es Trella takes a classic black jacket and adds the slightest bit of edge to it by bordering the collar with zippers. This coat is still polished enough to wear out, but switching the black pants for lighter denim really highlights the possibilities of this clean, uniform black coat.

This is probably the perfect black trench coat. I love the high military collar, with the double breasted closure and two columns of buttons, anyone wearing this is immediately granted Fashion Points +10000 and is leveled up to the Final Boss Round. OK, and seriously, I need to find out where they get their male models because this guy is probably the most attractive person I've ever seen. The jacket really doesn't help the situation. I can't tell what has a stronger presence in the photo. WHAT A BABE - IN A TRENCHCOAT!

Loooooove this classic long sleeve shirt. The basic crew neck sweater meets Star Trek with the big, bold rolled shoulder details - I almost didn't notice that the rest of the sleeve was sheer, and I can't believe the attention to detail in such a simple style.

GOD THIS JACKET IS SO INCREDIBLE!!!! I love everything about it. Black cropped jacket with ruffled sleeves and layered panels of fabric - Space Age and modern glam! The model is so simply dressed, and her hair and makeup are very plain, which I like. Immediately you see how all it takes is one statement piece to completely change an outfit.

One of my favorite pieces in the collection. I love the way the sheer, billowing fabric instantly makes the rocker-girl mini skirt a predatory, avant-garde creation.

A distressed take on the classic white sundress - Can you see the burnout floral designs? I love the texture, and the way the long sleeves balance out the sky high hemline. Definitely not so girl next door anymore.

I can't get enough of the dramatic hemline on this white dress - Imagine how many ways you can wear this! I can't get enough of the dainty silk dress paired with SO much leather - rock and roll, but you don't mess around, I mean, look at the shoes at least! This girl means business.

These are the greatest pants ever! I love this deep lilac color (if you couldn't already tell) and the gorgeous cropped jacket has truly changed my whole perspective on the "little black jacket" - this little coat is full of edgy details and luxe accents - I can't imagine any fashion forward woman NOT wanting this piece in their closet. Goodbye hoodies, goodbye denim jackets, goodbye boyfriend blazers - THIS is what the world is waiting for.

THE END! I tried not to get carried away, but you know how that goes...
